Tom Gallant, owner of Around The River Publishing & Producing, Inc., once again teamed up with Pilot Herb Hess of Laughlin Aviation, LLC to record the 5th Annual Bullhead City River Regatta. At 8:30am while rafters were launching their crafts at Davis Camp, Tom and Herb were flying overhead. Two hours of raw footage was obtained, and many great highlights were captured.
Not only did Tom record the event, he also interviewed River Regatta participants. The majority of those interviewed had positive things to say about the event, while a few mentioned that more signs were needed to signal the exit point at Rotary Park.
Around The River was also pleased to work with Linda Fitzpatrick of the California Historic Route 66 Association in the creation of their 85th Route 66 Celebration – Needles website. They ask that you Join in the fun November 11-12, 2011 as Needles celebrates this prestigious anniversary with a Poker Run, BBQ, and Car Show. Vendor and Car Show applications are available online.

To round off the month, Around The River joined many of the area’s Realtors® at Team Fahey‘s gorgeous riverfront listing, 9853 Dike Road. This magnificent home graced the cover of the June 2011 Issue, and being on its sandy beach was like literally stepping into the pages of a magazine.
We are looking forward to a full September starting with the release of our September 2011 Issue of Around The River Real Estate magazine® in our local and Southern California racks as well as online.
A few month’s ago, I was redesigning a website for a client. When it was complete and I was ready to upload the files to the client’s site, we discovered through his original designer that a) the client did not own his domain name; and b) the client did not own a hosting package.
The designer agreed to transfer the domain to our client through Go Daddy, and the following steps document this process:
Step 1 – Set up your own account at Go Daddy. There is no fee for this, and you do not have to buy anything. You will be given an account number.
Step 2 – The domain owner (in this case, the designer) initiates the transfer through their Go Daddy account. To transfer, they need to enter your account number and your email address.
Step 3 – You will receive an email from Go Daddy asking if you accept this transfer. You accept.
Step 4 – The domain will appear in your account.
Note: There are no costs involved with the transfer. When your domain is nearing expiration, you will be emailed several times by Go Daddy to alert you that you will need to renew your domain name. You can put a credit card on file and select automatic renewal so you never lose your domain name.
HOSTING PACKAGES
So you own your domain. Now what? You need a hosting package. We highly recommend HostGator. You will not find better customer service, and their hosting packages are very reasonable. If you have one domain, buy the Hatchling Plan. For unlimited domains, buy the Baby Plan. Business unlimited is also available, and comes with a few more bells & whistles.
Note: If you noticed more than one domain has been transferred to you (i.e. a dot com AND a dot net), buy the Baby Plan.
DNS RECORDS
You’ve got your domain, and your hosting package. It’s almost time to go live. You’ll need to tell your domain where to find your host, otherwise known as changing your Domain Name Server (DNS) records. We at Around The River offer this service to our clients, but details are below if you would like to do this yourself.
Step 2 – Select MyAccount (black button on the right).

Step 3 – In the left column, under “My Products”, choose Domains/Domain Manager.

Step 4 – Choose one domain at a time. Select the Name Server button; a drop-down menu will appear. Select Set Name Servers.
Change DNS Records
Step 5 – Select “I have specific nameservers for my domains” which specifies your domain is hosted with another company, and allows you to enter your nameservers. Your ‘welcome email’ from HostGator will specify your name servers. Enter your name servers, and click ‘Ok’. Be sure to change the dns records of your dot com and your dot net if applicable.
You are now ready to design your website, or transfer your existing website files. You may qualify for free transfer through HostGator (see, I told you they offer the best customer service). Around The River can design and/or maintain your website.
